What is group therapy? Our groups are usually comprised of 4-6 people who meet weekly with 1 or 2 trained facilitators. The leaders provide structure and topics for each week and guide participants. In the group environment, others serve as mirrors that can show us parts of ourselves we weren't fully aware of, show us that we aren't so different from our peers, and ultimately they can help brainstorm ways of coping and changing behaviors when needed. A group allows peers to provide comfort and insights that a therapist can't always give.
Groups can be particularly helpful when children or adults feel all alone with overwhelming emotions, think that no one will understand them, or even struggle to see their own social awkwardness.
We are now enrolling for the following groups that will begin after the holiday season:
Social Skills (3 separate age groups)
Grief Support (children and adult groups)
Children of Divorce
Teenage Anxiety and Depression
Life skills: the basics for college and beyond
